Debates
Today in class, we didn't really do anything and it was really boring. We started talking about the speech and debate team and that ended up being our whole class. We decided to learn about what the speech and debate team did then we brought it into our current class. Since we are talking about migration we were going to have a debate about migration. I thought we were going to have an actual debate but it ended up being the class listening to a recording some man talking about history. I started to doze off a few times, but what I remember is the man talking about the holocaust and how there was a boat of about 900 Jews and they tried to come and migrate to America but the US military turned them away, and almost all of them were sent back to Europe, captured, and killed. I enjoy talking about the holocaust because it interests me, but it makes me sad thinking about how that actually happened. I hope we use those notes to actual have a debate in a future class.

New Way of Learning
In Human Geography today, our teacher passed out an article kind of thing. He said for some people this is a better way of learning instead of just copying notes down. He gets all of his note from that packet. Throughout the units we would be highlighting, underlining, circling, and reading key ideas to look over and learn off of. Some of the things I learned today were in the packet on the first page, there is a section that states and answers the four questions that would be answered throughout the unit. Today I also learned that interregional migration is understood as an economic betterment and can be beneficial.

First Day on Migration
Today's human geo class felt very long. This was because it was our first day taking note in a while. The past days have been break and before that were things like review or watching videos. Some of the thing that we learned today were about migration. Every unit we get four questions that will be answer throughout the lessons. The questions we got today were " Where are migrants distributed?", "Where do people migrate within a country?", "Why do people migrate?", and "Why do migrants face obstacles?" We learned today that mobility is any kind of movement. Short term movement the is repetitive mobility is circulation. Emigration means to exit or leave a country, and immigration means to come into or enter a country. The difference between people entering and exiting a country is net migration. The global net migration rate is 0 because when ever someone is leaving a country they always enter another which would always cancel out to 0. That was a trick extra bonus question on our last test. In class we also got our 10 point pop quiz on Hans Rosling, and I got 2 wrong which made me get an 80. It was a big grade so it is fine but I wish I had done better. Overall pretty good day.

Pop Quiz on Hans Video
Today in Human Geo we went over our worksheet that we had to fill out while watching the Hans Rosling video. I wish I would've listened to it a bit closer because I didn't realize we were going to have a pop quiz on it. The quiz wasn't that hard, but I was a bit confused on some of the stage questions. The questions the work sheet were like the same exact question that were asking on the pop quiz. I think I got like one or two wrong but for the most part it was ok. I also forgot to do my blog over the weekend so my last week blog grade was a 2/4 so I need to make sure I keep doing them so my grade can get higher.

Got Our Tests Back
Today in human geo we didn't really do anything new. We all got our tests back today. I didn't do as well as I wanted, I got a 73%. I felt a little rushed and felt a little lost because I was out for three days because of Hello Dolly. When we were going over it, all the problems I got wrong were silly mistakes and I had easily remembered them. The part that got me most mixed up was the population pyramids. I first off forgot what TF something meant and that messed me up on one then I didn't understand some of the questions and how they related to each pyramid. I was between multiple answers for all of the problems and ended up getting every single one of them wrong. I am going to try and study and work my hardest to get my grade back up in the class, but I think everything will be okay.

Review
Today in class we reviewed for our test on Thursday. We have a portion on our test where we have to answer 15 questions in 15 minutes. Those questions will be from locating different things on the CIA website. The first few questions were easy. For example our teacher would ask what is the population of a certain place and I could find that in like 15 to 20 seconds. Towards the end he would start to ask us more complicated questions where you would have to click on multiple things or read a little bit, but those took longer. We also went over population pyramids again, the different shapes, and different key ideas that made each one different from one another. I hope I get a good grade on this test because it is the beginning of the quarter, and I want to start out well.

Day Two of Population Pyramids
Today in human geography class, we talked about population pyramids some more. We looked at more examples of the different shapes that the graph can be. The options are a Christmas tree, a cup, and a box. I am still a little confused about locating which graph is which shape because they aren't that exact shape so it can be hard to tell. We looked at some examples and had to see what was the industrial regions or why was there more of a certain age in that certain region. For example, in parts of Florida there are a lot more people with the age of 60 and older because many older people flee to warmer places when they are older. Also there was less 20-25 year olds because they tend to not want to live in places that are filled with elders.
