Population Pyramids
Today in class we learned about population pyramids. At first I was a bit confused because our teacher told us about 3 different shapes/objects that the pyramids would look like a Christmas tree, a box, and a cup, but hen we looked at half of the picture they looked nothing like that. I understood how the females were always on the right and the males were always on the left. The Christmas tree pyramid meant it was a developing nation, the box pyramid meant it was a developed nation but had slow growth, and the cup pyramid meant the nation was developing but had negative growth. Some of the main point for each were that the Christmas tree pyramid meant growth rates are slow, high birth rate, and short life expectancy. For example, Namibia, and Bangladesh. Some key points for the soc pyramid were low intact mortality, slow population growth, and long life expectancy. For example Sweden, and the US. Finally some key points for the cup pyramid were a low birth rate, shrinking population, and long life expectancy. Some examples are Italy, and Japan.
