Pg 153-154 Main Ideas/ Timeline

Today was the first day Mr. Schick wasn't in class. We had to read pages 153-154, write out the main ideas, write out the timeline (Rome Only), then to start reading 155-159.

Main Ideas:
Power and Authority; Rome began as a republic, a government in which elected officials represent the people. Eventually, absolute rulers called emperors seized power and expanded the empire.
Empire Building; At its height, the Roman Empire touched three continents- Europe, Asia, and Africa. For several centuries, Rome brought peace and prosperity to its empire before its eventual collapse.
Religious and Ethical Systems;Out of Judea rose a monotheistic, or single-god, religion known as Christianity. Based on the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, it soon spread throughout Rome and beyond.

Rome Timeline:
509 B.C. - Rome becomes a republic.
264 B.C. - First Punic War begins.
218 B.C. - In the Second Punic War, Hannibal invades Italy.
31 B.C. - Octavian defeats the forces of Antony and Cleopatra.
A.D. 284 - Diocletian becomes emperor of Rome.
A.D. 476 - Western Roman Empire falls.

First Day Back

Today was the first day back after spring break. I was really dreading it because my sleep schedule is all messed up and I am not mentally, physically, or emotionally ready for the last stretch and amount of work that we still have before summer break. We already had a test today that I had no clue about in Spanish. Todays western civ class was pretty chill, thank god. I also fell asleep in about three classes today but none of the teachers seemed to care. We also found out Mr. Schick is going t be out for two whole weeks coming up for a surgery her has to have. I feel bad for him, and I am kinda nervous because I will basically have to teach myself five sections or notes and information and then have a test on it when he comes back.

Test Day

We had a test in class today. It was about a bunch of different Ancient Greek stuff. There was study about some poems, different philosophers, different kings, and some types of governments. I dont really know how I did to be completely honest, but I'm just happy that it is over. I am so excited for break and then only about a month until summer after that. We also have shortened classes today because we have some prayer service so that is nice too. I hope the rest of the day goes by fast because I have a big game tonight at Hopkins and I am done with school.

Rap Class

Todays class was really funny because Athan and Elpris' group presented a rap. It was actually really good and had a lot of good knowledge behind it. That took like half of class, then we had to do our blog or finish the questions so that what I will put at the end of this blog.

Class Notes

Today's class was okay. It was shortened by five minutes because we had an assembly. We had one more group that was supposed to present but one of their group members was out because of a doctors appointment. I was looking forward to this group because they made up a rap on Ancient Greece and it was supposed to be pretty funny. Instead, our class took note on a chapter out of the textbook. It was pretty boring, I can't wait for summer.

Presentation Day

Today class went really well. My group presented our Ancient Greek project. We had to talk for five to eight minutes, and I feel like it went really well. We talked between that time and explained everything well. I am happy with the group I had because we all did equal amount of work and got along well. We juggled our personal lives and still split up everything perfectly. For example ate, Ryan, and Ella stayed after to make the pottery, but I couldn't because I had lacrosse, but I wrote the essay so it was all equal. I am glad it is over, I can't wait to get our grade back. There was also a group that made some Ancient Greek desert and it was so gross. My stomach hurt after. Overall chill class!

Last Test

Today our classes were shorter (only 50 minutes) because it was a D day and we got out early. We also took our last test in Western Civ. I t...
