Video Note Continued Pt 3
At the beginning of class we went over our notes that we had taken in the previous class. We also got bread that Mr. Schick toasted in the cafeteria of 22 Grain Bread that a majority of the food that was talked about in the video. In the video it talked about different foods that were naturally grown in different places. Wheat and barely grow naturally in the Middle East, rice naturally grows in China, and corn naturally grows in North America. All or most of those things were in the bread, along with several types of seeds. We also went over 14 animals that were naturally born/ found. Llama's were the only animals from South America. The rest of them were found from either Asia, Europe or some other places (I dont remember what it is called). The 4 biggest livestock is sheep, goat, pig, and cows.

Video Notes Continued
Today in Western Civ, we continued watching the Papua New Guinea video. Today mostly talked about plant and animal domestication. Also it talked about how some region were luckier than others. For example, China and many parts of Asia got to have rice grow naturally which can be stored for a long time and is nutritional, and how in North America, South America, and in Central America corn and a few other very valuable foods. I fell asleep again during this video. It always seems to be the time when I get most tired. I think we are almost done this video which is a good and bad thing. I like watching the video because it makes time go really fast, and we don't have to take a ton of note. Bad thing is we will probably have to start doing actual work and take actual notes which will be boring.

First Pop Quiz of Western Civ
Today in Western Civilization class, we didn't really do a lot. I don't have any notes from today because it was a chill class. The first thing we did in class today was review about the video we watched and took notes on yesterday. Then we had our first pop quiz. It was only 6 problem and I got 5 right so I did pretty well. My last pop quiz was in Human Geo class and I basically failed that so im happy I did better on this one. We then got the rest of class to write our blogs then do whatever we want, like homework or sleep. The reason we had so much extra time (like 35 minutes) is because we ahead of all the other classes by a lot. I am excited for the weekend and to hang with my friends. We also had a shadow in our class today. Her name was Ryan, she is in 8th grade, goes to Trinity Lutheran or something like that, and she is into theater and the performing arts

First Class of Western Civ
Today was our Western Civilization class. We talked about rules and thing we needed to know. We also got a new class so we got new student that were in Fendrick the first semester. We went over how to make a blog, but I just chilled since I already had one made. We talked about how if you play game you can get a detention, how we have to take notes in a composition book and thats it. I don't like taking note in a compulsion book because it is hard to write in them but I have to get one. Some things I am hoping for this class is we do presentations. I memorize stuff easier by doing research and then being able to talk about it in front of people. I think whether we are in groups or individually, it would still really help instead of taking a billion tests.

How the Semester Went
Today was my first day back after being sick. I don't think I did well on the test, but its fine. I think this semester went really well. I got a a4.2 on first quarter which is good and as of right now I have a 4.043 so hopefully this test won't bring that down too much. I wish we didn't have to do blogs because I always forget about them, but I do think they can be helpful with going over notes and understanding what we learned that day in class. I am happy we are halfway through the school year and I super excited for Sadies coming up. I've heard they are doing a neon theme this year so that should be fun. Other than that everything is going well.

Some of the Religions
Christianity is the most popular religion around the world. There are about 2.2 billion adherents. The followers of Christianity are referred to as Christians, and some of the geographic location are the Americas, Europe, and Southern Africa. The founder of Christianity was Jesus Christ, and holy book is the Bible including the New and Old Testament (Gospels). Some of the strong beliefs Christians have is that Jesus is the Son of God and both holy and divine. Also, Jesus was crucified, died, buried, then resurrected. After he rose into heave to then meet his father again (God).
The second largest region is Islam. They are about 1.5 billion adherents. People call them Muslims. They believe in monotheism and Abrahamic. Their holy book is the Qur'an (Koran). They see their purpose in live to follow observing law and submitting to Allah (their god).
Another religion is Buddhism. The adherents estimate pretty far from about 500 million to about 1.5 billion. People refer to them as Buddhist. Their beliefs include the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold path. I made up a thing to memorize the eightfold paths. It is VISALEMD standing for View, Intention, Action, Livelihood, Effort, Mindfulness, and Dedication. The denominations are Tibetan, Zen, Amidst, and Theravada.

Quran or Bible
Today's class was so fun. We played game at the beginning of class where there were phrase that either described part of the Bible or part of the Quran. We had to go through the rows and guess. We had 4 minutes to answer 20 questions. We could have help of our classmate but it was still challenging. We had to get an A (maximum of 2 wrong) in order to stop playing and chill on our computers and do our blogs. It took a little bit for us to get there but we eventually did. I like having that extra time at the end of class since it was a Friday and it was the last mod of the day. I also went to Pow Wow this weekend. It was my first time ever going and it was very interesting. When I got the John Carroll, it was packed. My mom and I had to park all the way at the park. It was very cool seeing all the hand made jewelry and things that were on display, and I liked seeing all of the costume and outfits the Native Americans were wearing. I will attach some picture below from my experience.

Finishing Religion Packet
In human geography we didn't really do anything different. We finished reviewing and going over our religion packet. We had like 20 minutes left so we could finish our blogs in class and have some extra time to review everything. Some things that I learned while going over the packet in class today is Hinduism isn't really a strict religion where you have to follow rules, and is more about suggestions on way to live your life. A majority of the population in India practices Hinduism. Also in the origin of Islam there are five pillars of faith. We don't need to know this for the test, but Mr. Schick said it is good important informations to know. The five pillars of faith are Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm of Ramadan, and Hajj. We also learned Christianity is the most widely spread region across the world. Also Buddhism has been around a lot longer than Christianity, but Christianity has been around a lot longer than Islam.

Religion Review
Today's class was only 45 minutes so it went by really fast. We got this packet that is like 50 pages long. Mr. Schick went over it with us and told us important things that would be on our test. We read through some things and highlight important things to study. We have a 25 point quiz coming up and I hope I do well because it is the last one of the quarter and semester 1. Unfortunately, I fell asleep while going over so I missed like the last part of the review. Our test is on the 17th of January so we still have some times before it. Mr. Schick also told us some stuff that would be on our test. It doesn't sound too hard, but it is basically on the four major religions. There will be 25 questions and it is all multiple choice. There will be A, B,C, and D. The options will be Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, and Buddhism. I just need to study the powerpoint on those religions and I think I'll be set.

Religion Questions
Quesrions:
There are four basic Vedic texts in use by Hindus.
The Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca is called the Hajj.
Describe the details of the Hajj, and include a photo of a Hajj in your blog.
1.
The first Vedic text in use by Hindus is Rig-Veda, and it is for recitation. There are 1,028 hymns.
The second Vedic text in use by Hindus is Sama-Veda, and it is for chanting. There are 1,549 hymns.
The third Vedic text in use by Hindus is Yajur-Veda, and it is for liturgy. There are 1,875 hymns.

The picture above is a Hajj. A Hajj is a pilgrimage of Muslims, that happens on the last month of the year, and every single Muslim is expected to attend at least once in their lifetime. They come from all over to Mecca, dressed in white to worship.
Give a brief description of each, including how many hymns are in each.
Do some independent research, and in your own words
describe the practice of indulgences.
Why do you think this made Martin Luther object to indulgences?
Please note where your research led you.

Religions
Todays class went by really fast. I liked the topics were are learning about right now. We are talking about the five major religions. The five major religions are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism. I was absent when we got the notes for Christianity and Islam but so far the most interesting has been Judaism. We also got a classwork to do in our blogs where we rank the five major religions scoring to population from the CIA website and from the Adherents website.
From the CIA website... the first one is Christianity which is 31.4% of worlds population, and is ranked number 1. Second I got Islam which is 24.2% of the worlds population, and is ranked number 2. Third I got Hinduism which is 15% of the world population, and is ranked number 3 in the world. Fourth I got Buddhism which is 7.1% and Buddhism is ranked number four. Last I got Judaism which is .2% of the worlds population and is ranked number six.
From the Adherent website I first got Christianity which was 33% of the worlds population, and ranked number one. Then I got Islam which was 21% of the world population, and ranked number two. Third I got Hinduism which was said to be 14% of the world population, and ranked number four. Then I got Buddhism which was 6% of the worlds population and ranked number six. Last I got Judaism as 0.22% of the worlds population and ranked number seven.
The two website were a little bit different but overall pretty close.
